If my lady love ever decides to repatriate (and take me with her). What can of salary can I hope to expect? Currently my title is loftier than what the job is - I'm the European Infrastructure Client Security Officer. I work for one of the top three outsourcers on a global account. I'm due to sit the CISSP before the end of the year and I'm a MCSE if I bother to do that last exam.

my guess is he looks afte security for the account. are there many others in there with you, and where are you currently? i am guessing UK. If you come out to australia, depending on your seniority, and technical skills, as well as where you settle, will all affect your pay rates.
If you come to sydney, you can probably expect $75-80k upwards, but again, that does depend on some things. all other cities you will get less, but this is because you are in a lower cost of living area.

depending on what you actually do in computer security, the size of the organisation and which city it's in your salary will likely be around 80K+. this is a rough guess.
hmm have you tried having a look at www.payscale.com ? it should give you a rough idea

If you can say "Would you like fries with that?" You can guarentee yourself about $8/hr.
hope that helps and look forward to being served by you in a Maccas near me soon.

will depend a lot on your Visa situation - if you go for the Working Holiday-Maker visa to start with then you'll be limited to 3 months working for any one company so you'll be looking at short term contract work. There are ways to extend this to 6 months but it's a mission and usually leaves you out of pocket.
If you're going for a De-Facto Visa (common law husband) then you need to have documented been together for 12 months. You need bills, photo's, wedding invites in both your names, comprehensive details for each member of your extended families... all in all it's a 58 page application form which my g/f is working through now. It also takes a few months to process and costs A$1800 pass or fail.
If you're Cisco qualified then you'll earn a lot over here - enough to have a superb lifestyle and I'd highly recommend it. You could get an idea by looking at suitable positions on Jobserve and then emailing the agent and asking them. The big money will always be in the UK however.. what we're hoping to do is return to London for 4 months each year to work, but be mainly based in Australia.
I've just returned from the UK and am currently working in Sydney as an IT contracter - I'd be happy to tell you what I was on in the UK and what I'm on here in a PM.
