As suggested by the thrower of dwarven folk,
"I think the idea of a semi-regular cooking challenge would be fun too. A couple of ingredients get named and you have to devise a meal around them. Post recipies and pics and everyone vote and/or try the recipes at home."
Entries will (unless anyone comes up with better) be judged via the following-
Integration of challange ingredients ../10
Originality ../10
Price/Value ../10
Presentation ../10
Writing of recipe ../5
Photos ../5
These criteria mean that if you just come up with the idea, but dont actually make it, you can get a maximum of 35/50

lol... I'll sit this one out. can't stand beetroot, fish or mushrooms.
Btw, how long do we have?

right, well that tends to restrict you a little.
I say we allow for a little cheating, and can obtain a reduced score for just planning the recipe/dish without making it.
Should we give it a few days?

At least, can be hard for people to make short notice shopping trips to get ingredients together etc... Having a dislike for fish generally means I steer clear of preparing it, so I wouldn't even know where to begin here. I'll wait this one out.

ok b4 this thread gets off the ground, which im quite willing to participate in. can i suggest we have a pantry with useful ingredients we are allowed to use as well. it makes it a lot easier if ppl know what other things they can use.
things like
eggs
flour / salt pepper
milk / cream / butter / oils / cheese
rice ( jasmin / aborrio )
garlic / onions / celery / carrots / potato / tomato / herbs
stocks ( liquids / cube stock )
soy / sweet chilli / wasabi
white-red wine / vinegar

While that is a great idea, I wasnt planning on restricting other ingredients, you just need to use the ones in the challange

Give ita go with just the vegies then, you will score low on the Integration of challange ingredients, but that only 10 of 50 possible

my point of the useful items list was ,u would need oil or butter to cook the fish + certain other essential ingredients.
i had a few great ideas for what to do with the barramundi, beetroot and pak choy. just didnt want to start using cetain other ingredients , then have some pedantic person say i was breaking the rules

Well, I sort of did it, but didn’t take photos...
Grilled fish with red bean sauce, served on steamed white beetroot slices, bok choi (almost pak choi), and roasted mushrooms
4 white fish fillets
3 medium beetroot, sliced 1/2 cm thick
Sweet chilli sauce
20 Mushroom
Olive oil
Sauce
1 Clove garlic
1 teasp garlic
1 tblsp Black bean sauce
2 tblsp red bean sauce
1 tblsp soy sauce
1/2 cup Beef stock
Fry garlic and ginger in a little oil for 2-3 minutes. Add sauces and stock, simmer for 10-15 minutes till good pouring consistency
Place mushrooms on baking tray, splash with olive oil and season with salt and pepper, bake for 20 minutes @ 180C
Grill fish till just cooked (hot grill pan 1-2 minutes a side)
Steam beetroot slices till almost cooked (~5 min) add bok choi for last 1-2 minutes, toss with sweet chille sauce.
Serve fish across beetroot and bok choi, side serve roast mushroom

I'd grab the lot (besides the mushrooms) and give it a quick whizz in the blender adding some garlic. I would then stuff the mushrooms with this mix and top with Brie. Chuck the stuffed mushies in a nice hot oven and make up a lemon, parsley and butter sauce to drizzle over it. I'd then steam some more bok choi and beetroot for the plate.
Might even try this one soon.
