New series of Monkey?

A new series of Monkey! is being filmed in Australia with boy-band star Shingo Katori as Monkey. The series, called Saiyûki, starts on Fuji TV in Japan in January.
Any one heard anything about this?

I bags the roll of Pigsy. I also know that abelgold does a very fine Monkey, he could give this Shingo joker a run for the covenant side burns.

So they are making a live action version of the anime then...not exactly Monkey as it was in the 80's either.....

I love Monkey, I have the old series on DVD, there are so many little funny bits in them, that you can miss it if you’re not really focussed. I swear one day I heard Pigsey call Monkey a C**t.

As with most re- makes, my guess is that it would never be as good as the original.
