UK BB gun laws

Does anyone know of the current BB gun laws for the UK(england). My friend has acquired a desert eagle that fires plastic BB's. I'm worried about going somwhere to fire at cans, cos it looks like a real gun even when you're holding it and with heightened terror alert...well I/he could get arrested. So what's the deal?j

You also run the risk of being shot at! The shoot to kill policy stands, a few cases where people have been shot dead and had replica guns were publicised -- some go back to prior 9/11 so its pretty serious without the heightened terror laws, also the increase in illegal firerms within the UK is still a concern for the Police.
