I saw Corpse Bride today, and it was more than a delight..
Tim Burtons directing, delicately sharp puppets, and foot-tappingly good tunes by Danny Elfman (with the superbly timed introduction song "According to plan") all meld together in a fine work of art.
The comical accuracy of Johnny Depp's puppets face never grew old, and thanks to the intricate clockwork inside, each puppets facial expressions were unique and full of life.
Movies this finely crafted are few. But I guess the very nature of painsteaking animation (28 still shots for the Corpse Bride to blink...) ensures it should at least be a half decent effort.
Im happy. Lovely stuff.. anyone else seen ?

Is this a musical like Nightmare Before Christmas? I can't stand musicals in any shape or forms so I couldn't watch that film. I'm asking because someone suggested we should go and see this and I'm exercising extreme caution.

There's a few songs. Wouldn't call it a musical though.
It's a great movie that I highly recommend.

I saw this at the movies with my mum, We both really enjoyed it.
However, I thought it was stop-motion, not puppeteering? Thus the short length.

I saw it recently and I actually hated it. The almost complete lack of colour was annoying, the dialouge was boring, the characters were pale images of previous Burton characters. I found it really annoying to watch, especially considering what Burtons capabile of making.

My only gripe was the fact that it ended way to abruptly... I won't ruin it for people who haven't seen it.
I was mighty impressed by the animation though. It was (apparently) the first feature length film made not using any sort of traditional motion film camera. They took 55 days to shoot 109,440 stills on a Canon DSLR (barring the flames and stuff for which they used MiniDV). Holy crap. Edited using Final Cut Pro too.

Yeah, it was all monochrome, which got pretty boring really.
It wasn't anything like Burton's previous movies, but it was still a damn sight better than most of the movies out there. Though it could have been far better.
Monochrome isn't all bad - just look at Sin City.
