Saw this movie about 2 months ago. Loved it. I bought it and watched it 2 more times, and I realized how in-depth the movie is and how much foreshadowing there is. It's as if the director made sure to put 1-2 peices of forshadowing in every storyboard. The acting and the story I thought were also very good. On some level I can really relate to the story and I think that nearly everyone can relate to Donnie in some part of the movie.
Discuss!

Its the greatest movie ever. EVER.
While having a captivating and clever storyline and plot, I really feel that I can relate to Donnie (no, I do not see people in bunny rabbit costumes). Just how he feels lost, confused, and afraid... I can really relate to that. And he isn't afraid when it comes to speaking his mind, cutting through bullshit. I really really relate to that Charachter... and I feel for him as well.
Oh, and http://www.donniedarko.com is awesome. It expands the story. Its nutty.
Best movie ever made. Yes... even better than Chuck Norris movies (although they come in a close second ;-))

the film also features such a kick arse soundtrack, particularly:
The Church - Under the Milky Way
Gary Jules - Mad World
Echo and the Bunnymen - The Killing Moon

If you loved the orgional, the music, the scenery and the in depth thought it provoked.... Don't watch the directors cut.
It added some scense (Only ones that were in the deleted scenes on the first DVD) added some new cut scenes, and mixed the music around.... The music was the bit that got to me most.
Early on in the movie with the collage of all the kids at school, doing things in the hallways, they origionally had the perfect peice of music, and the scenery would speed up and slow down in time with the music... My favourite scene by far. And in the Special Ed, They had a different song.. and.. it jsut didn't fit ?
They also tried to explain more, have poeple think less... and that IMHO is the problem. The best part of the movie was all the disccusion it provoked afterwards ~!

The Director doesn't know much about the time continuum.
Good movie though.

Er, must have missed that one myself.
I prefered the non directors cut. Although it was good for people who haddn't bothered to look up the movie online and accessed all of the extra info.
There's a tonne of it, including a call between the FAA and an investigator I think? Detailing the duplication of the engine down to the 'hand painted logo'.

Great movie, but certainly not the "best movie ever". The best movie ever is listed below for your reference:

(Starring (and possibly directed by) Orson Welles before he got fat)

IMHO: Anyone who thinks that Citizen Kane is the best film ever, hasn't bothered to think about what films they've really enjoyed and state their own opinion.

I didn't say anything about Citizen Kane. The Third Man is the film in question.
I think Carol Reed actually directed The Third Man anyway, not Orson Welles. He was just an actor for this movie - and a badass at that.
Best movie ever.
Watch The Third Man, and tell me I'm wrong.

Does it have Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris in it at the same time?
That'd possibly make it the best movie ever, but otherwise I'm unconvinced.

Chuck Norris Vs. Chuck Norris would be more likely. And we know that this is impossible, because the universe as we know it would explode. Proof that the Third Man is the best movie possible.

Jake Gyllenhal plays donnie darko, who's sister is played by Jake's real life sister, Maggie Gyllenhal who was in the best movie ever, The Secretary.

So why'd you move here?
My parents got a divorce. My mum had to get a restraining order against my step-dad. He has emotional problems.
Oh really, I have those too, what kind of emotional problems does your dad have?
Favourite quote of all time!!
Favourite movie or all time aswell.....Perhaps people can post the little things they noticed while watching it for the 18th time....
I like the fact that in the very begining, after Donnie has woken up on the mountain road and he's riding home, a red car drives past him.....A red car belonging to Frank.....Co-incidence?...yes.....But amusing none the less.
