I have a problem with my mums imac G3 (333mhz, 192mb ram) A year or so ago I upgraded the hard drive from a 6gig to a 40gig, with no problems. It had been running OS 9.2.1 since I upgraded the HD. The other night I decided to upgrade it to 9.2.2 (so I could use msn messenger) So I ran the online updates and downloaded the 9.2.2 update, but now when ever the computer starts it goes straight into the open firmware.
Checking the Apple support pages comes up with a article (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25249) that gives some answers saying it is to do with the hard drive size, What I cant understand is that if it is the hard drive size that is the problem why did it work fine under OS 9.2.1?
What I need is way to fix this without having to reformat, cos I hate reformatting and mum has heaps of crap on there.
