hehe, I've done a couple of late night missions to do a few laps of the mountain. Pretty fun, but you only get about 3 laps before enforcers of law turn up :p
Then it's a 2.5 hour drive home

Anyone know how much (if any) is going to be televised??

Probably during hours I won't be able to watch due to EoT on Saturday and EoC&C on Sunday, plus a few other things it looks like I might be doing that weekend ...

That's the sort of thing that happens when a channel that doesn't care in the least about motor racing gets their grubby hands on the rights, they butcher it to buggery and put on bugger all. Bastards. Which idiot was stupid enough to let the coverage get away from Channel 10, the only station that actually knows how to do motor racing properly.

It's because they don't want the rights anymore, apparently. That's why they've been burying the Formula One, too. Their coverage is a joke - they didn't even mention any F1 results on the Channel 9 news!
My parents have a house in Bathurst ... y'all welcome to come round if you want to see the race close up. It's within walking distance of Mount Panorama.

That sounds like an excellent idea for a zmeet!

I'd actually thought it'd be cool to have a Zmeet in Bathurst, not really that long until the 24 hour starts again, Incidently Mount Panorama is direct line of sight with my loungeroom window.
Edit: Oops, 24, not 34.

There's actually a cop who lives in one of the trackside houses, he'll let you have one lap but any more & he'll have you.

I was planning on going to the 24 hour and staying inside the track like we usually do for the V8 race weekend (except the V8's are boring and don't run all night :D) but I've been tasked with organising five new Cooper S's for a wedding that weekend so I can't go :(

Anyone planning on coming to Bathurst this year?
Maybe we could organise some kind of meet.

I'm in for a bathurst meet, I have been meaning to go for the last few years, just haven't had the $$$. I should do this year though.

I was under the impression that because of Procar shutting up shop there'd be no more 24hour, which is a real bummer because last year absolutely rocked! (even if it did pour with rain most of the time!)

First I've heard, Our mp is going on about the tens of millions they're spending up there, it'd be well & truelly wasted on the V8 stupid cars.

I just had a look at the Procar website (www.procar.com.au) and they appear to be back in business. I hadn't checked for a while, last I'd heard they were disappearing.
So the 24 Hour is on! w00t! :D

Ross Palmer got a bit sick of spending so much of his own money, and all the bitching and moaning that went on. Peter Boylan (who also drives an M3 in the GTP category) has taken over the promotion of all Procar events (including, I assume, the 24hr).
Unfortunately the Ferrari 550 is being kept snuggled up in a garage until the 24hr, no Procar rounds being done between now and then :( There was almost a deal done for a privately-owned 360 N-GT to be run for Allan Simonsen, but the costs were a bit too high. So, AS has to make do with a Challenge or no entry at all, and the NC class has to make do with a Diablo winning just about everything because Holden daren't allow their drivers to push lest they be beaten with the parity stick before the B24...

I'd be interested in going to see the race this year if others were too...

I'd be interested in the 24h race, not the v8s though. Can we all stay at that_blokes house? I'll bring beer :D :D
