Buying a video camera in the next couple of days and have narrowed it down to two choices, both JVC; the GR-DF430 and the GR-DF470. Priced at $680 and $839 respectively, both are good 'bang for your buck' cameras and I was leaning more towards the 430 model but was wondering if the $159 difference was worth upgrading to the 470.
I have spent the last couple of days trawling the internet in search of reviews and comparisons but in the end I turn to ZGeek to help with my consumer whoring. Is it worth paying the extra to get the higher model or sticking with original flavour and keeping the cash in my filthy pockets? Links follow and advance thanks to any help recieved.

If you find somewhere that sell both, perhaps you could ask exactly what the differences are. Looks like you'll get the same quality video from both, just get a few extra features or software or whatever with the more expensive one. Depends if they're worth it to you.

I dont mean to be a party pooper but stay away from JVC video cameras. My dad had one nothing but problems. Also the video quality on the cheaper video cameras is really poor for what you would expect to get these days.
He just gave up on the JVC and got a Panasonic. I dont know the model but it was about $1000.

Hey mate,
Not sure if youve purchased yet, but ive also heard bad stories about JVC. Still, ive worked with another guy who has one that has been fine, and he shoots great stuff. Good luck with it. Any video/ movie production questions PM me.

If I were buying a camera I'd buy a Canon XL HD 3000.
But look here for whatever at a good price

You may want to hold off until the canon dc40 comes out. It looks pretty sweet. The canon dc20 is good, and its price should come down as well. The dc40 is due in stores in April

Of course, I am a biased Canon nut, so you may want to take my opinion with a grain of salt.
