I saw this film tonight and i was quite entertained. Its the sort of film that you'll know if you like that sort of film, and for what it was, it did it better than most and better than most big budget types of these films. Also for the lower budget end of action/fantasy sort of films, the production and effects appeared top notch. If not better that alot of big budget rivals, mainly due to practical effects and make up with the cg only used to enhance.

Also Kate Beckinsale, is so fucking hot!!!

if you got some enjoyment out of the first, go see it, its better, it also kicks off literally straight from the first, however doesnt have the urban setting, and it continues with a new story and really does everything a sequel should, better production, better written, better action etc.

but yeah you'll know if its your sort of popcorn film or not.

That "sex scene" was the most pointless part of the movie. There was no need for it unless the kids are going to be the main focus of Underworld 3 (if its so, i pretty much see Kate + Michael take the role Corvinus did this movie).

that sex scene i think was sort of necessary because since she drank the blood from corvinus, she's the "future" of the vampire race as stated by corvinus. With that, she has to have children. Also, me and my friend were debating whether or not her offspring in the hopefully third installment of underworld would replace the roles of the feuding children as in UE. If there is not going to be a third underworld (which i highly doubt there wouldn't be) then yes, the sex scene would have been relatively pointless (aside from seeing Kate nearly butt nekid haha). Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I thought Vampires couldn't reproduce except through biting people. So the whole sex scene is even more redundant.

I'm not sure that in Underworld the Vampires are actually dead like they are usually in other fiction, so I guess they'd be able to make the beast with two backs.

Blah. The movie was pretty shit.

I kinda liked the first in that they likened Vampires and Werewolves to Cat and Dogs. But that was destroyed in the 2nd.

I didn't like Marcus. What the hell? How come he gets wings? I know that he is suposed to be really old, but they just made him way too powerful. His character was really flawed because I didn't know whether he was just insane or really pissed off.
Why the sudden urge to bring back his brother? And why did he kill his father? It made no sense because his father had shown him nothing but patience....

So was he insane, or crazy? Either way the movie was basically 1 tough guy thats tougher then the rest, then someone else was tougher then him. Next we need some even tougher. Ohh look! Now we have someone super tough.

Almost like watching DragonBall Z!! :D

Yeah, doing ugly monkey dances is ok, all Vampires have done that. I just figured that the whole point of the undead thing was that you were anathema to life, so therefore: no kiddies.

I'm curious... You compare it to Blade Trinity (and I assume Blade 1 & 2 too) but what other "big budget type" films are you referring to?

well the blade film comparison is because its action, features vampires, set modern times, secret hidden vampire thing etc. There are werewolves in blade world, although we wont see them on screen since the scene was cut from the last movie, and that movie didnt do that well so no spinoff series of movies... maybe in the tv series though...

the comparison with big budget films is that most big films with big budgets, lots of special effects still have alot of noticably very fake looking special effects. Where as this film had no real stand out bad effects shots. Sure these things depend on what is being dipicted but they were obviously clever to avoid anything that'd be too hard to do without complete scenes of cgi which always look fake.

i went and saw underworld:evolution 2 nights ago! I loved it! it explained alot from the first film. a mate of mine went and saw it and he has never seen the first one and he understood what it was about. The sex scene was brillant, u could hear the sound of the males drool splashing on the floor in the cinema...:D Meanwhile us lovely females managed to contain it :D they have actually managed to produce a good sequel for once!

i loved the fight scenes, they were brillant! i wonder if they will be making a third film? sorry if ive repeated stuff but im too lazy to actually read through the reviews :D

im guessing he got wings when he became a hybrid.
as he was the original vampire he would have had the most strength to begin with.

I'd say he got the wings because he is the "First" Vampire from which all others sprung. He is the more primal form of the vampire like his brother was the more primal form of the werewolf.

Because he had Corvinus' actual blood? The curse was transferred by biting, but the ability to become hybrid wasn't - due to, i don't know, not being a blood descendant of Corvinus maybe?

he was able to become a hybrid for the same reason michael became a hybrid.

marcus was the son of corvinus,
michael was a descendant of corvinus.
remember in the 1st film it was what they were looking for , corvinuses blood had special properties.

The ending was fucking hilarious.

Maybe its just me (I was the only one laughing) but seeing the vampire (marcus i think) get chopped up into bits was insanly funny. Oh and when the warewolf gets his head broken in two...

hahahha... Its almost worth seeing just for that.

All the chunks of body flying around. Hillarious.

Also when I went to go see it there were kids in the audience. I'm pretty sure it was MA, which means kids arent allowed in. I just thought it was interesting parents would take their kids to this kinda movie.

Overall the movie was shit. I give it $0.50/$5
