I just got through another episode of The Movie Show on SBS, and it occured to be what a joyless, sour bitch Megan Spencer can be.

Either she is on her rags every seven days, is perpetually without sex, or going through menopause (she is 40 this year!).

I don't think that someone who is so anti-anti should be reviewing films - films are the end product of thousands of choices by many people, and it's like shooting fish in a barrel finding some kind of fault with them. The emphasis of movie reviewing should be in illuminating what is enjoyable and worthwhile - and I think Megan rarely does this.

You're right FS. I remember when Lord of the Rings came out, and she bagged it out because Sauron's eye looked like a woman's vagina (in her opinion), and the whole story was anti-women or some such nonsense. It was just so she could be different from all the reviewers who recognised it was a great movie.

God, I've really disliked Megan Spencer's reviews for years. I nearly flipped when she was reviewing Jarhead on Myf Warhurst's show on JJJ the other day and Myf asked "So, what does 'Jarhead' actually mean?"

Megan's response?

"Dunno. They didn't really explain it."

HOLY SHIT WOMAN! Did you even see the movie? There's an entire narrative section in the first reel explaining EXACTLY what it means, both literally and in the context of the movie. The ignorance astounded me.

The woman is an idiot. But SBS were desperate after Margaret and David left. I tried to watch an episode once but it was like overhearing idle yuppies bullshit over their lattes on Brunswick St.

So true. Megan is the worst though. I always seem to hear her saying things like: "Oh i loved this movie, it reminded me of (insert obsure 1930's french movie here)" Yes Megan we know you studied film just shut up already.:hit:
