"...And the Circus Leaves Town" is Kyuss's final album before the band split and Josh Homme went on to conquer the world with Queens of the Stone Age. The line-up featured Scott Reeder on bass and Alfredo Hernandez on kit, replacing Nick Olivieri and Brant Bjork respectively from earlier albums.

However, the absentees are not missed and whilst not as accessible as the rock heavy Blues For The Red Sun or epic Welcome To Sky Valley, the record is still a triumph. The production quality is fantastic and a range of varied and well written songs are its signature. Opening with Hurricane and One Inch Man, the album kicks off with some bass heavy rock action. But it continues strongly with the hypnotic droning of Gloria Lewis, and kicks into full gear with the desert epic that is El Rodeo, containing some awesome guitar and complimenting bass work. In between times the album features more mellow (by comparison) tracks including Phototropic and Catamaran. The album rounds out with the gratuitous Space Ship Landing that comes in at 11 minutes and is an apt completion to the Kyuss experience with a mammoth guitar solo effort by Homme.

This album takes some listening, but for those QOTSA fans, this is Josh Homme at his finest. The guitar and bass work is outstanding and it is a must listen. It carries the HG stamp of approval.
