i have an IBM think pad T20, 14gig hdd, 256 meg RAm, unsure of cpu speed. It is currently running on windows 2000. I have been thinking about trying out linux for a while and figured this could be a good chance to do so however not having much experience with it (actually none), i have no idea what would be a good distribution to use, and therefore i ask the wise souls here at zgeek for their opinions.

I've found personally that both Fedora and Mandriva are good beginner distros. And as you probably already know you can get them off their respective sites or buy them through Everything Linux (http://www.elx/com.au)
