Anyone know of a good PHP driven open source tipping comp??
The Footy season starts on Friday and I am loathed to use the ninemsn one, cause I think that will mean that bill will send me more spam!!
Anyone?
Cheers

There are plenty of online tipping contest things including www.oztips.com...
:edit: plus there's one on nrl.com :/edit:
But a search on Sourceforge revealed nothing concrete.
I wrote some footy tipping software in Apple Integer Basic when I was about 8 years old. It worked really well for the family tipping contest that we used to hold, but I doubt that it would be any good nowadays...
But having said that, it shouldn't be too hard to write a footy tipping applet code from scratch - although I wouldn't be able to do so by this coming Friday..

It's harder than you think. I wrote one for uni based in ASP. Thought it would be easy, but then there were so many things you had to think about, and the SQL statements became nice and long.
But it worked in the end. Not sure where it is though ATM.
Anyway, there are free footy tipping comps, footy heaven lets you start your own tipping comp, with a group of people for free and lets you look after money and stuff as well.

nrl.com.au is free, plus there are some cash prizes...
pity the site sucks bum!
edit/ in both speed and design... but the tipping part of the site is pretty straight forward.

After a bit of clickin around I found this http://www.mytipper.com/download.php?list.12
Its not ideal, but the basic idea is there.
footytips.com.au is the one all the cool zgeekers use. Join our comp slacker!

I got bored on the train on the way home on Friday and have started a comp for... well... next season (or maybe I'll have it completed in time for the FIFA World Cup???). In any case, I have a very insecure, buggy and incomplete rough draft almost finalised already which handles multiple contests, multiple sports (my pilot included NRL, AFL, F1 and the FWC).
Now, to design the UI and add all of the features (proper authentication, management backend, etc)... I'll post updates of my project here if anyone cares... :)
