Damn, I didn't get pics but it was AMAZING. To use the words of my housemate "This is fucking AWESOME!" ^_^ It consisted of a 650g (sealed) scotch fillet, sauteed mushrooms and chicken liver pate all wrapped up together in two sheets of puff pastry and baked for about 20mins till medium rare. OMG was so good. :D

Last night i had a few chops, a sausage and other assorted items to play with but didn’t want to go outside and BBQ.
I boned and trimmed the chops, combined that meat, the sausage filling, ˝ an onion onion, garlic, semi-dried tomato, peperanato, a chilli, chutney, worcestershire sauce, mustard and herbs in a blender. When it was smoothish, I added some corn and peas then wrapped it in some puff pastry and baked for 40 min. Worked out really well. ;)

We had a pasta dish...just something I whip up, real simple, cheap and very tasty.
Chop half a brown onion finely, brown in olive oil on high. Add chopped bacon, brown on med-high. Add crushed/minced garlic. Add chopped sun-dried tomato, cook all on low. Add herbs and salt/pepper. Add cooked pasta (small spirals do best) and then a choice of pasta sauce (I use Leggo's Stir Through - most often Tomato and Bacon, but any according to taste is fine) to just cover the pasta in something. Can be served without sauce, but I'd recommend less pasta then.
Bon Appétit!

Last night I made this :
Central American Chilli Beef with Capsicum, Coriander, Avocado and Chocolate.
275g kidney beans
3 tbsp Olive oil
2 onions
2 garlic cloves
4 habeneros
110g field mushies
800g chuck steak cubed
2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp caster sugar (any sugar will do)
2 bay leaves
2 cans chopped tomatoes
200ml beef stock
1 red capsicum diced
the leaves from a bunch of coriander
50g dark chocolate ( lindt 85%)
1 medium firm, ripe avocado
1/2 red onion chopped
250g sour cream
If beans are dried beans (better) soak overnight, if using a can, use a full can, but drain the beans and rinse them.
Heat half oil in pan, add onion, cook till translucent. Add garlic chillies, mushies, cook for another 5 mins. Transfer to a plate. Add remainder of the oil to the pan, when hot, brown beef in two batches.
Return onion to pan with the beef and add cumin, cinnamon, sugar bay leaves, tomatoes, stock and beans. Stir and bring to simmer, leave for one hour. Add capsicum and leave for another half hour, stir every now and then.
Stir in most of the coriander and all the chocolate, season with salt and extra chilli if you like it hot.
Chop avocadeo and mix with red onion and remaining coriander. Top the dish with a spoon of sour cream and a spoon of the avocado mixture. Eat... yum!

Afta cooked tonight (for once, though I did have to instruct him :p) We had pork steaks marinated in some olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and herbs served with salad. After a couple of scotches and some good tunes, my mood improved greatly, and so I decided to make something to eat after all.
I ended up making something for which I'm yet to think of a name...
Sautee 4 crushed garlic cloves and 2 quatered onions (little tiny ones are the best, as they're 'spicier') in a good splash of Olive Oil and a nice big knob of (unsalted) butter.
When the onions turn transparent, add about 400 grams of sliced field mushrooms and sautee for a little while.
Add some capers, sliced black olives, sun-dried tomatoes and green string beans, as well as a little extra butter.
Add some fresh basil, chopped and some freshly cracked black pepper.
Add a drizzle of white wine (about 1/2 a cup).
Simmer for about 10 minutes, adding a splash of white wine every now and then.
Serve tossed with spiral pasta.
I would have taken a picture, but my housemate and I ate it all too quick :D

Tonight I had venison curry at the Golden Bo in Chatswood. It's a Vietnamese-Chinese restaurant that I love and was sorry when it closed for renovation. However, it has reopened for just over 2 months now, which is why I started eating there again. I also had a lychee on ice drink, where the lychees are at the bottom of a sundae glass and the glass is filled past the brim with shaved ice, topped with a little sugary sauce. Anyway, I was looking at the cold beverages menu, and wondered what it would be like to have an 'Ice Soya Bean Milk Panda Flavoured' drink...

We had my dad and his wife over for dinner last night and I decided to do something special! So for starters we had crusty fresh baked bread and muscles cooked in white wine, garlic and diced tomatos with a bit of chilli. Then for mains I made my creamy mash (made with butter AND cream and whipped after the mashing for extra fluffiness), chicken breast stuffed with goats cheese, shallots and proscuitto, also wrapped on the outside, and steamed some long beans over the cooking potatos.. it was so incredibly good if I do say so myself ;)
If that wasn't good enough we had tiramisu from Caketown for dessert, I am still full now :D
