KARACHI: The Americans are losing militarily in Iraq but they are winning the war on the economic front through privatizing Iraq’s natural resources and handing them over to multinational corporations (MNCs), according to Caoihhe Butterly, an Irish activist associated with the "Voices in the Wilderness," a non-governmental organization working in Iraq and several other Middle Eastern countries.
"Yes Americans are losing the war but one has to remain focused on the fact that the occupation of Iraq is also an economic occupation and though the Americans may be losing militarily, in some ways they are winning economically as they privatize Iraq’s resources and sell them off to MNCs," she told The News on Tuesday on the sidelines of the World Social Forum 2006 Karachi.
