Redhat 9 VIRGIN ALERT!!!

sarp fuckers.

long story short i have never used any sort of nix OS and due to a recent promotion i now need to be proficient in the use of redhat 9 within about the next oooohhhhh lets say 24 hours.

i have just built myself a new box out of leftover bits and am installing redhat 9 as we speak.

i was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions of things i should definately NOT DO cos it will make it all fall in a big heap of shit, or am i pretty safe bumbling around using a few textbooks and magazine articles to tech myself the basics?

Don't become dependant on the GUI when configuring shit, learn how to configure it manually just incase. And "DO" copy every config you touch (if it worked before) to some place safe, or even in the same directory called comething else, cause you WILL fuck something up at some point.

Also, "DO" make sure you put a password word on grub and DON'T forget it. :clown:

Your going to want to use bolt cutters or not very charp pliers and remove them completely.

fore real tho, what is the big thing for this? server? desktop? eh? bet thing to do for each is really different than the others.
