Most grandmas love bending over all day doing the gardenning. Perhaps their horticultural skills & enthusiasm could be put to good use in mine clearance and IED clearance. Since old dears aren't that mobile anyway, if they lose a leg or an arm then it just wouldn't be worth replacing them .... remember geriatrics make for cheaper casualties if you nil-by-mouth them.

Perhaps the reason that the US changed from 7.62mm to 5.56mm ammo was to reduce the recoil so that more grannies could handle combat rifles?. It could also be to assist with all of the geriatric troopers who have increasing risk of osteoporosis due to wayward lifestyles in the West.
