For those that actually eat food for breakfast.... what do you eat?
I'm currently doing Weight Watchers to lose weight, and one of the major things I have to work on is eating breakfast..
So far I've done crumpets with blueberry jam, and a fruit cup
Various flavoured Uncle Tobys Oat temptations
Yoghurt and a fruit cup
English Muffin with cheese melted over it
This morning I've got 2 english muffins, 3 rashes of bacon (cooked in the microwave), and 2 slices of cheese.
But I need variety and more ideas...

I eat two digestive biscuits when I wake up, then have coffee or soup an hour later at work.
On weekends I make an effort to have a cooked breakfast or waffles.

I have heaps of green tea at breakfast, never really feel hungry.

Ever since I put myself on a low GI diet (three weeks ago ~15 kilos so far) I've had exactly the same breakfast. Porridge. Rolled oats, a squirt of honey, hot water - into the microwave for 1 or 2 minutes - washed down with black coffee. It's boring as all hell, but I don't start feeling hungry until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. The chocolate box at work is starting to get cobwebs on it and on the weekend I was able to try on a suit I haven't been able to wear for six years.

I just cannot fucking stand breakfast cereal - I'm more inclined to have toast, pancakes, or a crossaint.

What I'm drinking now. My own concoction of 2 teaspoons ovalteenie, one teaspoon of coffee, two teaspoons of sugar, small amount of milk, stir vigourously, boiling water.
All this should go in a reasonably tank-ish cup.

Porridge with lots of milk, no sugar and some raisin toast (Bergens Fruit and Muesli) with a big cup of tea.

I need a huge protein ritch breakfast because sometimes I work beyond my normal lunch hours training customers and if I get hungry I become a huge cunt.
So 2 eggs scrambled, 4 strips of bacon or 4 sausage links with a glass of milk/OJ and a coke or two later. Surprisingly this can keep me going for around 5 hours without starving to death.
Edit: Porrige/Oatmeal is actually something I eat around once every two weeks and does pretty well as far ass me not getting hungry just not my fave of foods to eat.

Occassionally a bowl of Sultana Bran...
But most days I don't eat breakfast, or lunch.

When I am working I have 2 Wheat Bix and skim milk before leaving the house, Skim Latte when I get to work if I need coffee and then about 9.30 -10 I have a brown roll with avocado and fried mushrooms.

two pieces of toast (or a toasted bagel), usually with peanut butter and a jam of some sort, possibly honey. Also, a banana and a glass of milk. On weekends I usually do eggs and bacon, because i love eggs and bacon.
Sometimes toast with vegemite but 99% of the time I just have a big bowl of sultana bran.
I'll eat a piece of fruit too on the way to the station if I'm not getting a lift in to work.

I had some CocoPops for breakfast this morning. And they were just like a crunch chocolate milkshake.
But I will normally have a toasted bagel with chicken, ham, jam or honey.

Like everyone else, porridge is good - especially as it gets colder.
I find a good muesli mixed with yoghurt to be quite filling and keeps me going quite happily until lunch.
Scrambled eggs are also good, I think because they are a good source of protein and this keeps you sated longer.
Fruit, especially apples, actually makes me hungry, so I try to avoid them mid-morning and opt for some nuts instead., again with the protein thing. Almonds and macadamias make the best snacks because they are full of goodness and macadamias have a fairly good fibre content. However, it is really easy to eat too many, so I make sure I only take a small amount, about 20 - 30g, with me to work.
Good luck!

I usually get up at about 5:30 and go for a run for about an hour, when I get home I have a glass of V8 juice, shower + dress then have a bowl of muesli with yoghurt.
I am trying to get fitter and thinner.

I generally need my breakfast to last from 7am to 10:30-11am.
Thats when
Those that answered with 'nothing', or something like 'coffee/tea' thats not really what I was after...
Those that answered with what they EAT, thanks.... I have a few questions
Jambo: what do you mean by 'digestive biscuits'?
Everyone else... what types of muesli/cereal?
I bought that Health Plus cereal for digestive and bowel - its got a fair amount of fibre in it (which is something I'm trying to increase to my RDI of 20-35g)... but I'm yet to try it.
I don't like milk on my cereal, so Bitch, thanks for the idea of yoghurt + cereal! thats awesome.
I also don't like eggs, so that option is out. Same with bannas.
Bitch, i have the same problem as you do with nuts, so I'll probably look at dividing them up into snap lock bags like you do :D Good idea.
I was having porridge every day, but it gets a bit boring and I find it hard to force down a whole bowl... and it doesn't keep me full for very long.

My current fave muesli is a Health Plus one but it is the Heart one.
Again, I think it has a fair amount of fibre but has some really good textural variation. I also find it more satisfying than Fibre Plus, which just seems really light, or at least less dense, in comparison.
A good high fibre breakfast, that I picked up from the CSIRO diet, is one or two weetbix with some All-Bran (or the generic equivalent) and a sliced banana. You really do need the banana though, otherwise it turns to mush in a couple of minutes.

How were you making it? You mentioned those Uncle Toby's temptations thingies. I get those for the dwarflings. They're actually pretty sugary, which Is why I make mine with just oats, water and honey.
You could try making the porridge from scratch then putting a 1/4 to a 1/2 a punnet of blueberries or something in it to liven it up a little.

Good idea with the blueberries.
They're actually 2 weight watchers points (i get 21 points per day) each for the uncle tobys temptations ones (when made with water), but they were a bit bland after a while.

Or they aren't violently allergic to Bacon, or Eggs (although in reality anyone who was would be mad to use a random sandwich toaster)

Thick rye toast with vegemite (no butter) and fresh tomato. Or avocado and tomato.
Cereal- limited to All Bran/ Weet Bix (with fruit depending on season).
Always, always, washed down with Green Tea. You can get flavoured varieties too. I'm drinking citrus flavoured at the moment. Full of antioxidants and very cleansing.

I like porridge, but I make mine with cold milk ... I really dont like the taste of it when it's warm and gloopy. On a weekend, I whizz up a banana and some soya milk and make a nice thick smoothie type thing . On a weekday, I tend to snag a banana or 2 bits of dry brown toast .

As I make the kids lunches I graze. So I pick on grapes, apples, mandarins, carrot sticks, rice cakes or yoghurt. I have to have coffee before I start and after the mad morning rush I have a cup of tea and walk 50mins (to and from school).
Weekends we have a full hot breakfast or a platter of bread, nuts, grapes, etc until dinner.
If the variety thing is killing you Sapia, chop stuff up once a week (celery, salads, etc...) and grab what takes your fancy.

For some reason there is always carrot sticks in our fridge. We buy big carrots and don’t use it all so we just cut what left and put it in the fridge. Good for snacks and side salads.

Fruit muesli and milk, after riding the bike to work. sometimes some homemade fruit bread if I get organised and put it in the breadmaker.
Need sultanas or a fruit bar mid morning to keep me going usually but sometimes get to lunch and realise I've forgotten all about eating.
Have to have a couple of cups of coffee during the day to keep going but am trying to drink more water. Damn work and their fancy cappucino machine!

Yup, I second this. Not just because of the danger of that whole yummy honey, sesame seed and carrot combo. Nor because raw carrot tastes like dirt, carrot juice even more so.
I find celery sticks, or little horse-shoes, depending on how you cut them to be uber satisfying because of their crunch.
If you want to jazz them up a little, sprinkle some onion and / or chilli powder on them.
I try to kid myself that they are just as crunchy and flavoursome as chips. Again, if a zip-lock bag makes these another great work snack.

I don't like celery, i only barely tolerate it in soups....
I've replaced my chips with flavoured rice cakes :D they're delicious... I'm eating sour cream and chives Sun Rice ones.

rice cakes with vegemite ftw ....ok maybe just me...

24-05-2006, 06:47 PM
I only like celery... when its topped with a bit of peanut butter! I remember when you could buy that at the 'little lunch' canteen at school for like 5c
breaky for me is a necessity - without which I can't wake up at all... I usualy have a high energy content cereal as I usualy ride in to work, so its nutragrain with soymilk... or sustain with soymilk... (but I don't add any sugar to it...)
soymilk cos I can't have dairy...

normally it's 2 cups of tea.. usually earl grey and either 2 slices of toast with jam, or a bowl of cereal, or a tuna sandwich.
followed by a fruit of some kind
I used to have a lot of coffee but that's something I've gotten under control now so I only swap the tea for coffee if i'm up at 5am lol :zzzz:
i dont have any specific diet plans so I dont really know if that's good or not but as I'm not a big eater I try not to skip breakfast and can usually last till lunch time quite fine.

Had a Jumbo Breakfast Roll (http://www.patshortt.com/JumboBreakfastRoll.htm) for breakfast this morning.
Well I wake up in the morning and I jump straight out of bed
Grab a hold of that luminous jacket and shake that fuzzy head
I donšt have time for a fancy breakfast or put muesli in a bowl
I just head to the stat oil garage for the jumbo breakfast Roll
Two eggs
two rasher
two sausage
two Bacon
two puddins; one Black one white
All placed like a tower on top of each other and then wrapped up good and
tight
If you're having some tea the milks over there and you'll find sugar in the bowl
Says she "Do you want some sauce on that?" says I, "I do in my roll"
http://www.nenya.net/gussy/Jumbo%20Breakfast%20Roll.mp3
Normally I have have two or three Special K Bars for breakfast, but my flatmate was playing the above song when I awoke, so I just had to get one.
I'll be skipping lunch.

Traditionally my breakfast consists of coffee. Sometimes I manage to acquire a day or so old bun or some other pastry-based product that the local bakery couldnt sell at full price (so I get a bag of 2 items for $1). Even more occasionally, I might get a Steak and something pie with the discount pastry item.
I am working on having a better breakfast as it seems to help me stay awake.
