Hi Macheads,

I have a user that wants to migrate from a Mac PowerBook to a Dell Latitude D410. I am having some issues with moving her email from Entourage 2004 to Outlook 2003. Outlook refuses to open or import the .mbox files that I was able to get from Entourage.

Any ideas? I have looked at an Export-Import Entourage set of scripts but they don't seem to be able to move mail from Entourage to Outlook.

Any advice will be heartily +repped and your name will be added to my "Good Bloke/Sheila" list.

Cheers
Icky

That'll do you 25 contacts, and i'm sure you could "find" it around :)

roduct Description:
50 scripts to export and import almost everything - Contacts, Groups, Calendar Events, Tasks, Notes, Messages, Folders, Accounts, Signatures, Mailing Lists and Categories - from one identity of Entourage X or 2001 to any other, and to transfer Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes to and from other PIM programs on the Mac and Windows, with special converters for Microsoft Outlook, Excel and other programs.

You can import/export between all versions of Entourage, Outlook, Palm Desktop and other PIMs.

PS: Hopefully these aren't the scripts you mention you've seen
otherwise, i think outlook express can open .mbox files, then export to pst

I've had to do this a dozen or so times. The easiest way that I've come across is to set up a quick Postfix installation on a Linux system, copy the mbox file to that and get the Outlook client to download the email via that. However, this isn't a simple as a "convert" operation, but it works for me.

I have also heard that aid4mail (http://www.aid4mail.com/) is pretty good at doing what you're after.

:edit: Another one I just thought of - if you have access to an IMAP server, just copy all messages to the IMAP server from Entourage, and download via Outlook. I don't think you could get simpler than that.

Also, some other mbox to eml tools:

http://www.fookes.com/mailbag/
http://www.broobles.com/imapsize/th2outlook.php
http://home.arcor.de/luethje/prog/

These will allow you to export to .eml files, which can be opened by Outlook Express, from which you can then export to Outlook.

Follow up on the mail migration - all worked brilliantly. I went for the IMAP server option and moved the mail from the Mac to the IMAP server, onto the PC and then imported it into the .PST file for the POP account.

The thing that I really hate about Entourage is that it has abysmal archiving features. You can copy messages to .eml files or folders to .mbox files but using these on Outlook is painful and I just couldn't get Outlook to read the .mbox files. Piece of rubbish....

Has anybody used Evolution for Mac OS X and can you please let me know if it is worth rolling this out to new Mac users?
