I never know what to write in these bloody things.

"Hi. I'm a 29 year old guy from Sydney. I like playing with computers. I like 4WDing.":barf:

Stuff that.

So, can anyone tell me what this zGeek is all about?

dwarfthrower

So... tell us about a time when you faced a difficulty in your work and how you overcame the problem.

Howdy fearless noob... It's about stuff... 4WDing, Sydney and computers all rate a mention.

What kinda 4WD? (oh and they can be a dirty word around here with the green set).

Welcome fella!

Are there many greenies in here? I find most are not that bad once you get past the brainwashed mentality of most of em. Besides, I do a lot of off road stuff, so I don't really give a shit what anyone thinks...

Its a 105 Series Landcruiser - my little baby.....lol.... all sorts of bits and pieces. The latest toy is the PC + touchscreen - just putting the finishing touches on it now...

Anyway, thanks for the heads up.....

Hey Dwarf,

A difficult time at work....hmmmm....ummmmm.....i dunno. I guess there was that time in the toilets...(no...don't mention that - not at an interview...)....

This looks like an interesting place to hang out so far, so I'll see how it goes...

I always like to ask the following question to the people who make it past the first round of interviews first question every candidate every time. Never fails to throw them, some more than others and those don't make the cut to the next round.

...So congratulations on making it past the first round of interviews. You'd appreciate that all the other candidates that have made it this far have similar skill sets and posess similar qualifications. We are interested in what sets you apart from the other candidates that have come this far. What do you think that is?

Hail and welcome (4wd)^2

get yourself an avatar and a signature mate.

Do you belong to a 4WD club?

4wd4wd
28-06-2006, 01:51 PM
Nope - used to belong to one, then another, but I got sick of all the politics. I just wanna do my thing, not some old guy on a power trips thing...... I'll have to join one soon - only way to get into some decent tracks soon.

I'll do the sig and stuff now.

What do you drive then Mr Undirected?

I drove a little Geo Tracker (same as a Suzuki Samurai) for a while, but the damn thing kept breaking down so it sits in my garage doing nothing right now (as of a month ago). NOw I borrow my Dad's Jeep Wrangler. Now that is a true off-road vehicle. Either that or me and my uncle go in his Ford F250 4X4.

I actually prefer to go motorcycle riding off road. My uncle lets me use his Suzuki Enduro (500 cc) whenever I want. I unfortunately have to be a turn signal or two on it as I like to jump, but landing is occasionally difficult.

Those jeeps are fun - my dad has one.

He came out with us one day. Once. Never again, he swore....lol..... still, none of the cars broke, and noone was hurt.

Thats a fucking ridiculous question. Without meeting the other candidates, how the hell are you supposed to know what sets you apart from them ?

Are you supposed to say "Well surely im the only one with a birthmark on my right butt cheek"

Hey Scumbag...

I did a couple of tracks west of Yengo about a year ago, and have played a fair bit in the state forrests behind the central coast. Never been on either of the two you suggested. I know I ended up by mistake on the "great north walk" once, up behind the hunter valley...lol

My usual haunt is Lithgow, and anywhere west. Barrington tops is good as well, but don't get up there much. Stockton Beach is fun, but not my cup of tea - give me mud and rocks any day!

Is it any good in Yengo? From what I have heard, it is OK for softroaders and the likes - more of an excuse to visit the pub at St Albans if you are into anything too serious. I could be wrong though!

The correct answer (in my books anyway) would be something along the lines of:
My attitude, my work ethic, my passion for the field... any of a number of the intangible qualities you pick up over the course of X years working as an XYZ would set me apart from the pack.
Then go on about how working as a blah blah blah enriches you as a person which feeds back into an overall better quality of work.

Cool, Yengo's about the only place ive been 4WD'ing so thats why I mentioned it :D It was hella fun.

As far as Stockton goes, id like to see vehicles banned from those dunes, or at least very heavily restricted. Beach sand dunes are very senstive areas & important nesting grounds for all sorts of birdlife. I saw dune buggies & 4WD'ers being complete dickheads behind stockton driving through and tearing apart vegetation thats holding the dunes together. Made me

Theres plenty of other places to go 4wd'ing with minimal impact on the environment..

4wd4wd
28-06-2006, 04:39 PM
Scumbag,

Theres dunes that it's OK to act like a total dick head on, and there are ones noone should go near - even on foot.

As a rule of thumb, if there is even the slightest hint of grass growing, you don't go near it. Generally, at Stockton the green areas are just above the high tide mark, and extend back anywhere from 10 to 200 metres.

If, on the other hand it is one of the "mobile" dunes towards the rear of the beach, it is fine, as they move with the wind anyway. I've been there on windy days, and it takes literally minutes sometimes for tracks to disappear. No wildlife or anything on those.

I think people should learn to tell the difference before venturing onto the beach - save all sorts of dramas down the track. Most people are fine - but it only takes a couple of complete morons to spoil it for everyone.

My pet hate is the amount of rubbish there. We did the cleanup last year, and got a car-load in about an hour. And of about 50 4WD's, it hardly made a dent. It doesn't help that all the crap that comes down the river gets dumped back on the beach during storms and things.....

Cheers
