Im putting this in here incase anyone brings up spoilers.

Just got back from this tonight, a very good film! I cant even really think of anything I didn’t like about the film. All the action was good, it was over done or pointless or silly, all the actors were good. Kate Bosworth is very cute.. It was good. Cant wait until they can make a sequel. Honestly I think it’s a better film than 1 and 2. I know they have the whole, original blah blah, but they are dates, and have silly, incoherent silly bits. Overall this is a much better conceived and realised film, ignoring the production aspects such as visual effects. The visual effects are good as well, everythings good about this film! Definitely one of the best superhero films ever.

what are others thoughts?

slow bits i wanted to fast forward were the piano scene, some scenes of lex studying crystals, the overlong hospital sequence and some of the scenes involving lois and superman together. but overall it was good despite the actor for lois lane being the weakest link in the cast.

you didnt find the piano thing entertaining? alot of people laughed.

i though kat bosworth lacked the lois lane attitude a bit, but she's darn cute

I just got back from seeing it myself. Fucking fantastic - I thought it had plenty of nods and winks to Superman I and II, and all of the main players performed their roles fantasically.

Kate Bosworth apparantly wears g-strings.

Plenty of fan-boy references!! Action Comics #1 scene, Superman Lives!, past superman movie actors, plus christianity references (think about it)..

Great movie, not the best I've seen.. but for a fan-boy such as myself, it was well worth the wait!!

Long, slow, boring. Superman looks like he was made of plastic. In the hospital scene I just wanted him to die so we could go home already.

What the hell is with directors these days, are their films so sacred to them that they have to include every single scene they film, even if they just make it overly long and tedious rather than adding to the story. We saw it in King Kong, now here it is in Superman. I guess there will be no extended directors cut, since they clearly left nothing out.

the extended cut features the scenes of Superman back at kryton, shot appeared in early trailer, but it was cut out of the film.

i dont see how you could find it boring, except the end bit which dragged... I dunno not enough explosions for you? I guess if people go expecting a nonstop action film they'll be disapointed.

It wasn't that it wasn't non-stop action, but it was completly non action. Most of the film was centered on the Lois Lane / Superman romance non-event to the detriment of the story. Superman is a Super Hero, but there were only 3 times were he got be a Super Hero in the entire movie, one of which is a very poor excuse for a montage which was clearly just thrown to remind people that Superman is not always a love struck pussy, but sometimes goes out and fights crime and saves people.

Kevin Spacey did however play the role of Lex Luther brilliantly, he was the films only highlight.

Just got back from seeing it and I'm still buzzing.
I was very, very impressed.

Was it just me or did they sneak in a sly reference to the cover of JSA Classifed #1? (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/de/Powergirl_ah_jsa.jpg)

There were some complaints about the pacing of the film and that there should've been more action - get Superman 1 and 2 from the video store and have a look at them... Richard Donner's pacing in both are both incredibly slow by today's "action movie" standards, but it gave him time to develop character and treat the Superman character with the respect that he obviously held. Bryan Singer tried to use a similar slower pacing but pumped up the action and CG sequences around the development of the characters.

Besides that Superman took over 12 months to film.. If you think they've even put a minute fraction of the stuff they've filmed into the final cut then you're way off track.

Recall the scene where the bankrobber shot up the policecars with a chunky machine gun? I was on the SFX team that tested and rigged up the police cars with the bullet hits... 3 months worth of testing, building and rigging, 2 nights of shooting and about $1M of budget went into that car scene. Screen time?? about 3 seconds.
