I've been offered $70k (NZD) to work over in Auckland for 12 months...

When converted to AUD, it's about the same as I'm on now. My question is, what's the cost of living like in Auckland? Are there any tax benefits for a foreign citizen working there? (Such as the Living Away from Home allowance here in Aus).

Converted to AUD, it's about the same as I'm on now and don't want to go through the fuss and bother of moving only to find out I'm worse off than if I'd stayed here.

Auckland. If you're on the same money, don't bother unless you're bored with Brisbane. Half the population of NZ (and not the good half) jammed into, geographically speaking, the worst place they could put a city.
