Hey all. I am trying to install my D-Link DWL-G630 wireless PCMCIA cardbus card on SUSE 10.1.
I am trying to install this on a Dell Latitude C640 (2GHz, 384MB RAM, 32MB ATI 7500 GPU, 20GB HDD).
I followed the instructions for installing the wintendo driver with ndiswrapper and everytime I did a modprobe I got a flash on the nic and then a kernel panic. Complete lockup. No activity at all.
I gave up on this and I switched to madwifi. It seems the problems I have are persistent as I am now getting the kernel panic with MadWiFi.
I tested the card on a Windows box and it came up fine. To the best of my knowledge the card is not faulty.
A full reinstall of SUSE is an option as this is just my play thing. I also have Ubuntu 6.06 to play with. I am staying away from 5.10 as it has lots of issues with the ATI video cards.
Can anyone point me to a FAQ or Distro that might be more friendly to the lappy?
Instructions would be cool but I am pretty sure I don't have enough info for that on here at the moment. As I said I am happy to do a full reinstall if necessary.

Cheers guys.

Try booting in the Ubuntu cd (the install cd is now also a live cd - w00t), see if it can see the wifi network card.. :cheer:
