I've got a Logitech MX1000 mouse, does anyone know of a way in mac os x to assign, say, the back and forward thumb buttons as next/previous in itunes?

Erm go to the mx control panel and asign whatever keyboard shortcuts to those buttons. That's what I had to do to get back/forwards working in FF.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Had to assign them to command-] and -[ to get safari and finder to work properly

Likewise I've got the app-switch button changed to F9 so I can switch between windows super-quick :)
