It's awesome! It does absolutely everything I want it to. The only thing that confuses me is that it can play MP3's but you can't set an MP3 as a ringtone?

You suck. If you hadn't posted this thread, I wouldn't have seen this.
I want one now :(
damn, that looks alot like my o2 atom, seems to do most of the same stuff too, except for the slide out keyboard, but to be honest the slide out keyboard doesnt really impress me that much

02 and iMate are made by the same manufacturer, however, the jasjam is a whole lot bigger and a whole lot more advanced than an atom.

Yeah I have one. Is brilliant. I had a jasjar before it, which was bigger and sluggish .. the jasjam is perfect though. I'd probably get a Dopod (same as jasjam ) from 3 though as it comes with MS Voice Command by default which is the best program in the world. You can buy it and install on Jasjam for around $40 or so also.

So yes. A mate of mine has a Jasjam. Pretty soon that sliding keyboard will not stay in. The slide-y thing starts getting loose and stuff. :'(

I had one as well but I just upgraded to a Dopod 838pro. It's also made by HTC and so far I love it even better than my JasJam...
It is true that O2 & HP atom lines are made by HTC, but the OS and driver set is not. Pretty much the entire O2 and HP line has cronic feedback and echo issues - Anyone considering them, stay the fuck away!!!!
Edit: Opps!!! I meant I had a K-Jam. The Dopod 838 is the i-Mate JasJam....

Also - if you need a good car-mount (they seem to be difficult to find) Clicon have a good suite of units:

I have one of these and it's seems solid enough...

I just completed the upgrade of my Dopod 838pro to Windows Mobile 6.
It's not a huge jump from 5, but it has a few cool features:
It's got HTML-based email
Internet Explorer is significantly improved
The phone now supports HSPDA download protocal meaning I can get 2Mb/s downloads (it was previously capped at about 720Kb/s)
Windows Live is better integrated (if you like that sort of thing)
If you're in australia the ROM is unavailble, but if you google for it you should be able to find a rapidshare link to it. The site I got the ROM from reckons that the one ROM supports all of the HTC line, but that doesn't sound right to me....

Yeah I've had it for a while now, But I see there's now an official rom update for the JASJAM which is awesome.

Do you guys get HSDPA in Aus? It's awesome... 7mb is being trialled and should be out this year. Currently I can get about 1.8mb.... unlimited for £7.50/month. :D

HSPDA is active, but I can't remember how fast. looking forward totrying it out when I get back... and get the right settings for my network.

25-07-2007, 04:38 AM
I think 1.8mb is the slowest HSDPA there is, and believe me its flippin' fast. You realise just how fast when you hook your phone up as a laptop modem.

I don't know about the other carriers, but Vodafone's is currently limited to 1.8mb/s. THere is plenty of talk about them opening it up, I'll guess we'll wait and see whether Telstra's next "G" lives up to the hype....

Yes you do, they're a fantastic device. Mine is running this ROM, I would encourage any fellow owners to use it:

I use a JasJam for work with Motorola's Good Messaging software to synchronise with our Exchange server,
Push email is truly good shit
I am installing the Good Messaging Intranet component as I type this to test our Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0 Intranet mobile functionality (so M$ says :fineprint )
The only thing I get the shits with about GM and the JasJam is that once you synch with an Exchange server it looks at your Outlook contacts to distinguish who is calling, but it can't do it for text messages.
So you need to maintain to contact lists - one in your Outlook client on your PC/laptop (which gets push-sync'd) and a local copy on your JasJam so you can tell who has sent you a text :grr:

Why are you using Good Messaging? WM5 has push email when paired with Exchange2003 anyways... unless GM gives more features ?

On your recommendation I just cross-graded to this ROM and I have to say it's the Shiznit!! I really like the native HTC utilities and all the extra "nuts & bolts"options I can get access to.
It took a little while to get the ROM to load though - it turns out that the HTC USB Sync driver in Vista is not compatible with the bootloader, so you have to downgrade the driver before it will connect.
Once I got past that it was all good to go!
You're right about the theme tho - it was the first thing I changed!

I love how much quicker it feels to all the others too! I (and some others) have experienced a problem where it locks up on the Windows splash screen after a soft reset sometimes, requiring a hard reset to resolve. Schaps is working on it though. :)

i jsut found a iphone theme for my jasjam, it's pretty good for a laugh.
But it comes with normal internet instructions (copy the files to the thing and then do the thing to install the thing and then copy it to the disk in the sub folder!!)

* Send picture/video via MMS should work now on WWE Lite ROM
* Bluetooth DUN added to WWE Lite ROM
* Official Windows Live build

from what I heard the "telstra" jasjam is a bit shit - they put something in it to make it work at speeds > 1.8Mb and to work on the Next G. It keeps crashing, and there has been heaps of returns. If you're gonna get one, apparantly the Dopod 838 Pro is a better buy. I was going to get one, but cashola was needed for something else :(

The battery life is good for a PocketPC device, but just like all PPC devices it is not comparable to a mobile phone.
You might get 2-3 days in standby if you're lucky.

I seem to be having a very minor issue with the Schaps ROM build - It's seems to crash when I answer a call while it's docked, or rather, if I undock the unit to answer the call....
Not a major one...
I've heard you can get a little GPS devices that works with the JasJam. Is this right? :) Might invest in one for the car if it's going to be cheaper than buying an entire GPS unit.

That's what I use - I have a separate bluetooth GPS receiver, conencted to Tom Tom. I'm pretty sure all Windows Mobile 5 & 6 devices have a GPS connector app built in, so it should work with any of them.
I guess it would be a pain to use an external GPS receiver for walking directions, but that's never been an issue for me...
As far as it being cheaper? The GPS device itself is quite cheap - you can get them for as low as $30 on eBay. UNfortunately they don't include software and if you were to buy it legitimately you'd be looking at several hundred dollars.
If you do a search I think there's another thread somewhere with a link to a torrent for Tom Tom (I would never condone such piratey (http://www.zgeek.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69813) behaviour!!!) with Aussie maps and celebrity voices. I currently receive directions from C3PO!
3PO you fucking git. Stupid faggy robot.., grumble Couldn't find his way to Old Ben's place!!! Why do I trust him to get me to SeaWorld?

TomTom Torrent? $0

My imate jasjam has just stopped synchronising with my pc because my pc no longer recognises it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software but still nothing. Anyone else had this issue and know how to fix it, it's got me fucked.
I'm thinking it's time for a new toy if I can't fix it

I have the TyTn II and its fantastic, but the TyTn III is here now and there's more stuff coming. I'd also be interested in seeing more of Android if I were in the market for a phone at the moment.
