Ok, if you have a white MacBook like I do, you know by now how shitty it looks after a few months, not to mention all those cumstains. Here is a bit of an illustration:

Now, has anyone had any luck cleaning theirs? I have read advice suggesting rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover(!) and Gumption. Im considering the latter, however it is pretty strong stuff and I dont want to risk it.
Does anyone have any experience with this? From what I read, in the US Mac are actually swapping these computers over for people.

Your best bet is to just clean it regularly to begin with.
I have a powerbook and the silver stuff is less prone to that sort of thing, but my girlfriend has used nail polish remover successfully on her mac to get rid of those stains... though i'm fairly certain there was no cum on hers.

Use bathroom cleaner. Your MacBook is made up of a plastic that is similar to plexiglass. Bathroom cleaners that are made to clean up showers made of plastic work very well. Spray the cleaner on the cloth (not the computer) and then wipe. Take GREAT care not to get the cleaner on your screen or you will be sorry. That is what I use on my laptops I take care of and it works really well.

Take it to a service provider and have them replace the top case. Known issue in early white units, blah blah...

I've always been fine with using those alcohol smelling wipes that come in plastic containers... 'phone cleaner wipes' heh

I wonder if the black models get the same prob only you cant see the stains?
I would try gumption or see if you can get the top face replaced under warranty. seems stupid that apple would not check those sorts of problems out before shipping it.
My silver g4 powerbook doesnt get that, although, i do get a shock sometimes with different usb plugs. Its odd, but mostly it happens with the printer cable.

I don't think mine has any stains... its a black one
I get a shock from some of the screws on the side of my case sometimes.
but since i'm naturally a highly charged person (humid weather screws me over something severe, its like shock city) its not suprising.

Dunno if this stuff (http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2006/12/10/6235) is available here in Oz, but it gets some raves for cleaning ability.

What I mean mine is black is that mine is IBM...not Apple...almost all IBM's are black...haha
