I must admit though, I was once of the same mould as Nodbugger (ok maybe not as bad) back when I was 17. I had a very limited & ignorant view of the world, and of world politics. It was around the time of Gulf war part one, I too thought America was the biggest and the best and blindly beleived that they were actually doing "good" for this world, and ridding "evil".

After a few years I began to read different news sources, developed maturity and a politically correct outlook on the world and I soon changed my way of thinking. Most importantly, I travelled around and saw first hand how people in less advantaged countries lived and realised a whole heap of things which I wont go into here.

Give him time, if he's got a keen interest in politics and a mind of his own (something im yet to be proven) I think he might have some sense in him in another few years.

Until then, Nodbugger, Id advise you go read some more and leave us alone.

What company did he run into a ground? He ran a state with 26 million people, and they kept voting for him. So he has experience.

The UN didn't disagree with him. France disagreed with him. If the UN disagrees with him why have over 40 countries joined our coalition?

North Korea has no long-range capability with their nuclear weapons. Their missile test firing over Japan was just that, a test. And aiming for the largest body of water, on a planet that is over 70% covered in water, isn't exactly the latest thing in smart-guidance technology. In other words, their ability to deploy said weapon is no greater than Iraq's and their supposed weapons of mass destruction.

And, for the record, nuclear devices are the poster child of the term "weapons of mass destruction". If disarming a state that has a crazy despot with bad hair, who you assert controls WMDs and starving their population, is reason enough to invade them then North Korea should be just as high on the list as Iraq.

All true, but he mentioned something about experiencing other societies, which would indicate that his trips weren’t military; even the stupidest person knows that one US military base is the same as the next (and yes, I have been to 3, Guam, San Diego and Exmouth) regardless of country. Or maybe I’m just crediting him with too much intelligence, maybe his travel has been all military and the only difference between Germany and Indonesia is the dude that serves you at the PX.

I have read alot on Bush and his environmental stance. One word: non-existent. He is WAY WAY WAY too lax on the companies qnd power plants that pollute. In fact he has actually reduced the numbers allowed for companies and their pollution output. I've seen pictures of where there used to be oil drillings in America's Mid West and its kind of like a wasteland. He doesn't even care about the land he rules! Its disgusting and disturbing and to trust companies to reduce their own pollution is a FUCKING joke.

This is probably the biggest mistake he is making even before the war. To totally ignore the very essence and balance of life is going to be a huge problem in the future (if it isn't already now).

I think he seriously believes we will inhabit Mars and therefore why not destroy Earth now? This is sad because I have learned to appreciate one thing and that is Earth and what it has to offer.

Nobugger has the same problem many of the others on ZGeek have, they react emotionally. Now the current US administration has done a lot of things that have seriously reduced our standing in the world. I am really hoping the next administration does a better job. Not everyone agrees with Bush and even members of his own party are beginning to object to his policies (like asking for an additional unmandated $25 billion for Iraq after the mandated $89 billion).

The US also has troops in Bosnia (no oil) and Afganistan (also no oil). The troops in those countries were brought in under the auspices of NATO and the UN which is probably how troops should be deployed, not the way it was done in Iraq. We made it possible for the EU to come into being. Face it europe had never gone 40 years without a major war. The US made the prospect of another european war so terrible that they were forced to get along.

The US is not responsible for every bad thing that has happened in the world since 1945. Remember the Soviet Union? They invaded Poland in 1952, Hungary in 1954 and Czechslovakia in 1968. I guess the US could have started a nuclear war over these countries but we didn't. Remember Vietnam? The war there was started by the French, we should have worked that one much differently.

We did establish the UN and payed a large chunk of it's operating budget. Yeah we are behind in our payments to the UN, but that is because we only want to pay 20% of their operating budget and they keep billing us for 25%.

As for the US as a global cop, which wars should we become involved in.

Napal- Maoist uprising
Russia- Chechen uprising
Sri Lanka- Tamil uprising

Actually ASK, I have not asked anyone to prove the unproveable. I am asking Nod to back up statements he has made as fact which are in reality at best opinions and at worst just plain wrong.
