My battery and backup battery drained when I was on holidays recently and as a result, I lost my configuration for syncing with my work pc.

Since then, I have reconfigured it to sync with my notebook but can not get it to try and re-sync with my work's exchange server.

It can get my Outlook emails (which I don't want!) but not my calender or contacts.

Every time it syncs with the PC, it then goes and tries to reach the server via GPRS.

Any ideas as to how I can force this to use the USB connection that it uses for PC syncing?

I did have this set up and working correctly but that was well over a year ago and I forgot what jiggery pokery I did to get it going.

I know I'm missing something REALLY obvious, I just don't have any more time to try and figure it out today... so will my promise of my measly rep help to bring forth any suggestions?

Are you trying to sync directly with your exchange server all the time, or just when you're connected to the sync cable?

I know what you need to do ( I think ) but my offsider stole my USB cable so I can't go through it here and type up exactly what I do. I'll reply again when my cable re-appears.

Open ActiveSync and Tools->Options. Under Windows PC select the bits you want to sync.

If there is anything else in there ( Exchange Server ), right click on it and delete.

I'm trying to sync with my server, only when I'm connected to my PC via a USB cable.

Unfortunately, I don't get the option of contacts or calender with the desktop sync options.

From the ActiveSync window on my PC, when it is connected it shows the Tasks as "Synchronized" but for the Calendar and Contacts "Sync status is on the device"

Ideally, I'd be able to configure the USB/cradle connections settings somewhere but so far this is neither a bluetooth/IR/CSD/GPRS or a NIC.

Grrr.... phone makes me go crazy....

Argh! Thanks for your suggestions, stinky.

I ended up rtfm-ing (or at least googling further)

Contacts and Calendar from the Activesync Options Menu is greyed out and not available

Check that Contacts and Calendar etc. are not selected in Activesync on xda.
Tap Start > Activesync > Options > Tools > Server and deselect all items to synchronise.

These settings are for synchronising via a network only.

Although I didn't actually have these options greyed out, once I chose to remove all details in the server tab, I then got the option of the exchange components within the PC sync menu.

Yay!

Again, thanks stinky :c)
