actually saw a clip of gilder performing this on some early 80s music variety show recently. it was really bad. he had the post 70s hangover clothes to the nth degree and it wasn't helping that he was emaciatingly skinny. the thing that his performance stand out was that he was so clearly and completely strung out on coke during the performance. you could almost hear the jackhammer beating of his heart in the microphone.

this same show had the village people introduce rupert holmes to vomit out his shithole of a song. that's when i left the room.
