Which Instant Messenger Client do you use? I normally just use Adium which runs my ICQ, AIM, MSN, and Gtalk accounts. If i want to do audio or video I'll fire up iChat for mac to mac. or Skype for Mac to PC.
Anybody else use something different. A Multiprotocol client with skype support would be awesome.

I'm yet to find a multichat client I actually like, I tried the Trillian, Gaim & Miranda clients and uninstalled them (This was a while ago now).
The biggest flaw I found in one of them (think it was Trillian or Gaim) that when I had one of my friends in Aim try and send me a link or a file it never even showed on my end with a link so I ended up having to sign in the normal way after being asked why I didn't download the file or comment on the page I was "sent" to.
I'm not sure if they fixed the webcam thing either, when using a multichat client for some reason you couldn't get webcams or voicechat to work properly, it's been a while though.
If I'm going to multichat it isn't that hard to open all chat clients separately anyway imo.
Nope I'm not a Mac user, anyone want to buy me one so I can play with it?

Personally, I have ended up just sticking with MSN and scrapping the rest. I have Skype for Voice to Voice but I have just settled on msn just as it is common amongst my friends and easy enough to use.

The only IM networks I use are MSN and Skype so as a PC user I use Windows Live Messenger and Skype clients. With my very limited experience with Macs I found i liked aMSN ('http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMSN') as a good MSN substitute. It includes many more features that are available in the Windows version of MSN than the Mac one. I really don't know much about Skype on Macs though.
Personally I am not a big fan multichat programs, they are very limited in their features, as they are trying to cater for several IM networks, and there are a few compatibility issues that piss me right off. Also I don't use other chat networks enough to warrant it... I figure everyone worth talking to will have MSN :)
ADD: I find ebuddy.com a very good web messenger too... especially for mobile web, where you don't want to be paying $5 a month for msn
Adium works pretty well for me. I wish Skype would open their protocol so multi-chat clients could add them ....

I use gyachi for Yahoo and aMSN for Windows Live.
Used to use GAIM to keep it all in one app, but the others just had more cool features.
aMSN is available cross platform; gyachi's only available for Linux.

adium, adium, and more adium. it supports accounts from most other chat programs, letting you import all your address books. You can dload ridiculous shitloads of extras for it, including sounds, icon sets, fonts, emoticon sets, scripts that enter random quotes for you, and skins. For voice and video communiques i use skype. the tabbed conversation windows take a little getting used to, but i find i much prefer them now.
Both programs have served me very well.

Completely new to Mac here, saw the MacBook in the UAE two weeks ago whilst visiting the GF and was like 'oh, that is just sex!'.
MSN for Mac doesn't have webcam support from what I've seen so I use Mercury http://www.mercury.to/ although that doesn't yet have Video Conference support (shared webcams only).
Does aMSN or the others support VC'ing?

Personally I just use iChat but I don't actually use chat software so iChat doesn't get much use. I have no friends so that's why. :)

I use Adium to handle all the different protocols my friends use -- AIM, MSN, Gmail and ICQ -- but the thing that annoys me is that I can't do video chatting with it, only with iChat.
Then again, because my DSL is so crap I don't even have enough speed to use the video chat anyway, so I guess it's moot for now.
