Just curious what my fellow geeks know about recovery orders, how quickly they can be acquired and how effective they are....

(some background info.) my 14 year old, ran away from home last night and stayed somewhere that is unacceptable to both his Dad and I. I have been in contact with the Police, Children's Services & also my son's solicitor today: my son has a solicitor because for approximately the last 12 years my ex has been dragging me through the Family Court system.

Late this afternoon my ex rings me and asks that I respond to an email and give my permission for him and my son's solicitor to seek a recovery order, I have been unable to contact the solicitor and am wary. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Recovery Orders weren't necessary, my boy is home :) (for now at least)

Could I help you with advice on corporal punishment, Catt?

As you can tell, I am wholeheartedly in favour of punishing a child when he/she acts like a little shit.

One time, I threatened my parents with calling the police. Dad, very calmly, gave me the phone, and offered to dial the number for me. He also offered to dial the ambulance for me, as I would need it by the time the coppers arrived.

Sure enough, I backed down.
