I currently work full time in a professional role. We are payed overtime for > 40 hours per week and as such (and for project tracking and billing) we fill in timesheets on a weekly basis.
It is policy at this company to not pay employees should they neglect to get their timesheet in by a certain time (regardless of the fact we do large amounts of site work in remote areas, often keeping us out of touch with the office). We are not just talking about withholding any overtime payments, this means they do not pay a cent without a complete timesheet
So my question is…is it legal to withhold payment to a full time employee on this basis?

I just got out of a 2 hour 'Managing within the Law" session, if I had of seen this first I would have asked the lawyer presenting it for you!
The first thing to do would be to check your employment contract, if its not in there, then I don't think it would be okay for them to do that. Also if you're a fulltime employee I would think that the standard 38hours would be required to be paid without a timesheet.

Depends on the size of your employing entity and your original employee agreement

we don't pay any of our contractors at work if we don't get a signed timesheet. We write in their contract that they will be paid on a monthly/fortnightly basis once we have recv'd their timesheet.
If we don't get a timesheet, it goes into the next payment cycle.
But, u being a FT employee, I would think that they would pay you a base salary regardless of timesheet, then pay OT once timesheet in recvd.

at my work if someone doesnt fill in the time sheet properly they dont get paid. and if we dont get it in on time no one gets paid. they have deadlines to meet on a certain day to get it all done. maybe you should try to roll over your time sheets to the next week.
