Legs were decidedly stiff getting out of bed this morning, punishment for my effort yesterday. So I started off with a nice long stretching session: Hip flexors, groin, hamstrings, quads & calves. Then a mid-tempo run. Followed that up with a leg workout: 3x15 each of leg presses, extensions, curls and calf raises to keep the muscles around the joints strong... stretched it all out again and hit the showers.

Bandaids held the runner's nipple at bay... and came off easily with all the sweat. Have a tiny blister on the end of my middle toe - left foot, irritant more than anything. Legs got a liberal application of Ice Gel, which has them feeling pretty good at the moment... although taking a leak with liniment still on your hands is best avoided.

i did 20 minutes
5 minutes brisk warm up walk
then brisk walking mixed with 3 x 90 seconds worth of jogging (instead of running like last time)
on the last stretch home i started to get killer shin spints in my left leg

which is far better than previously... but these are pretty bad.

can't point my left toe at all without it hurting... giving it a few minutes then going to try stretching it again

sapia, you certainly picked a bugbear of an injury to be bedeviled by. one running buddy of mine (http://www.dommy.com/ihaterunning/) has almost given up after a year of fighting this foe.

i've added a post (http://www.zgeek.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1170862&postcount=9) in the injury thread with some input from others fighting the problem. you might want to take a look at some of them.

3M at training pace
Conditions: 25 clear, sunny
Surface : concrete, some sandstone steps, bush
Route : Down from work to the creek and back up again via the pool
Run report : Best run of the week so far, feeling good all the way around, stopped again for a stretch and I'll need to stretch again before I go to bed. Man, I am REALLY eating a lot at the moment. Today was

Lemon water

Massive Bowl (I.E half a box) of Special K and milk

Nuts and a spacefood stick

Big Chicken Salad Sandwich

Apple, Two pieces of Vegemite toast

8 Slices of pizza!

A meat pie with peas

Damn, that's a lot of food!

yup, and a pie and that later, it was a big food day! I guess I needed it.
