What do you think of it?

I just switched over to it and it seems ok.
First launch was a bit slow, but i think that was because it wanted me to say 'change all' for keychain access (i'd opened up another window infront of it so I didn't see)

Ok, I have definitely noticed some major improvements in the way it handles some scrolling boxes on some sites.

Very happy with this.
it also likes my banking websites a hell of a lot more.

I'm a mac-ophile from way back but I just don't see the need to use their lousy browser. Firefox all the way, especially with their incredible plug-ins....

BTW why the hell did they launch a WIndows version? I just DON'T get it. Apple, you suck at browsers......time to move on to the iOrgasm or somethin'

That was already answered... possible iPhone plugins...

I don't like firefox on the mac at all.

What is the difference? I use firefox on my mac and on my Parallels Win XP partition and they're pretty much identical ... unless I'm missing something?

I'm not game to install the beta yet. Maybe in a couple more weeks it'll be more robust, but a lot of the initial impressions I read did not fill me with confience.

I recently switch to firefox because it's marginally faster and I like a lot of the plugins. That's not to say I don't like Safari; just that version 2 is missing some features that I really like.

I haven't used Safari since Firefox was available on OS X, I cant stand the theme that Apple uses for it and it doesn't do anything that Firefox doesn't.

The windows version is probably a good idea when you think about iPhone apps, but it still uses that fugly theme, which takes up way too much screen real estate.

I like the safari theme.

I'm not a huge fan of Safari. Firefox all the way. Although I'll give Safari another go when the new version is available.

Well, you could download the beta...

As for the Safari theme, I don't mind the brushed metal look, but kinda wish that Apple would be consistent across the board with its own apps. I never thought it took up a heap of screen real estate though. Especially compared to IE6 and below.

yeah, thats one of the big reasons I don't use firefox
13" screen + firefox = doesn't look so nice.

I don't see the problem with the theme being different for different apps
I prefer safari looking different to mail, means less concentration when I flick between windows.

Also, the find function in the new safari is fucking hot shit
lemme show you

Yeah I read about that. Looks sweet. Definitely one-ups FF2's find function (which I think is fantastic)

Oooh
it also now displays the front page of zgeek properly - the text box for the little chat box in top right is now green rather than white :)

Indeed, but would rather wait until those forementioned bugs are ironed out

I can't use it at work because it crashes trying to login to the proxy but I think I'll install it on my Parallels setup so that I can test it.

I only use Safari on the Mac as FireFox doesn't offer me anything over Safari and Safari blows FireFox out of the water in terms of speed. Actually it used to not work with Google Docs but I have 3 Beta on my Mac and this works.

But Roughly Drafted has this awesome thought about why Apple developed Safari for Windows. It'll blow your mind the potential.

??? FireFox is ugly as sin compared to Safari. Safari uses no themes as it's Cocoa that provides the look. As such it's way friendlier with the system than FireFox.

Don't forget about resizable textboxes. No other browser does that neat little trick.

Allright, I'm convinced. I'll download it into XP on my VMWare machine and see what it's like.

New version out now for both Mac and Windows.

Incidentally, was 3.0.1 ever released for the Mac?
