View Full Version : Can anyone recommend a decent mobile phone?

As mentioned in another thread, I recently spilled liquid on my phone and it is now officially dead. I don't want to extend my contract with Three to get a new one and so I am on a hunt for a phone. Ideally I am looking for the following:

- Around $200.00
- Preferably Nokia
- Something that looks good (pink is a bonus)
- MP3 tones a must
- MP3 player with expandable memory would be nice, would pay more for this

Can anyone recommend a phone to me that fits the above?

Alternatively, does someone perhaps have an old phone they no longer use, roughly fits the above and works reasonably well that they may wish to part with for a few dollars?

If you can help, I will love you forever... with mouth

ADD: Better still, anyone wanna be my sugar daddy and buy me an N-Series phone? :hopeful:

get a nokia 6300 it has camera mp3 player bluetooth and it comes with a 128 meg card installed , vodaphone has them prepaid for $200 or you can get em from optus online for 24 month $19 plan here ----> https://www.optus.com.au/shop/hottestdeals/hottestDeals.do?planType=Yes&requestType=showDeals

Are you talking $200 on contract, or $200 outright?

I used to be a die-hard Nokia fan, but the crappy series 60 interface layout and performance finally drove me off them. I've had 2 Sony Ericssons since then, and I'm not going back. You should have a look at a W880 if it's inside the budget - 2.0 Camera, Memory Stick Micro slot, Walkman MP3 Player (comes with hands free + headphones you can replace with any old ones), stainless steel (near indestructible, shiny!) and only 9mm thick (tiny!).

I'll second the Nokia 6300, had mine for 6 months now and have no complaints at all.

If you don't want to be tied to a carrier, I got mine outright & unlocked from this (http://search.ebay.com.au/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&satitle=6300&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sadis=200&fpos=2650&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ga10244=10425&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&seller=1&sass=mobileciti_estore&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&fgtp=) eBay seller. Looks like the 'buy it now' price is a bit above your budget, but you could try your luck with the other low starting price auctions.

If pink is a big selling point (and you won't miss bluetooth) maybe have a look at the Nokia 7360 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BRAND-NEW-NOKIA-7360-CAMERA-MOBILE-PHONE-Pink_W0QQitemZ150174883413QQihZ005QQcategoryZ31238 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)? Under budget and the spec list reads OK but I haven't used one personally.

Note: No affiliation with that eBay seller, just an Oz based store with a wide range of handsets that I've had competitive prices & good service from.

Here are a couple I found:

I searched froogle for Pink Nokia's. At least these can give you pics and ideas on what you would want.
