So I'm moving up to Sydney for a bit as I have work experience in West Ryde. I don't know much about Sydney's public transport system, excpet I hear its shit, but how shit? If I were to live in Centralish Sydney how long would it take me to get to West Ryde Station? (I think I start at 7.30). Or woudl I be seriously better living closer to West Ryde?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Cheers

Alex

Why not save time and just live in West Ryde?

The trains that go directly to West Ryde don't stop in 'centralish' Sydney except for Strathfield and Burwood.

There's a bus from West Ryde to Sydney. It's an express, so 30 - 40 minutes, I'd guess...

I'm in Rydalmere, so just up the road. When you drive through, you'll see a big flag pole - My office is at the base of it, and I live 7 houses away. Life is good.....

There are places in West Ryde where all the homies hang out - mabey best to live somewhere nearby - Eastwood, Dundas, Rydalmere, Carlingford, Telopea.... NOT DUNDAS VALLEY, or south of Victoria Road.....

Telopea is worse then west ryde.

Don't go there....heaps of housing commission

Parts of Telopea are OK - the bits furthest away from Dundas Valley, that is.....lol

Petrols cheap oposite the station though!

What is it with the people that hang around the shops there? I pop up to Woolies at, like, 11pm and there's always a crowd. It's Ermington fer Christ sake! There's nothing there at that time of night!

I didn't think West Ryde was too bad, except that the main road running through it is so noisy that you can hear the noise unless you're living in one of the houses off the road... there's some very interesting Asian shops and restaurants and a smart pub.

I actually thought Gladesville's shopping strip looked like a hole... very industrial, even thuogh there's million dollar houses for sale by the water.

I've lived in both. Maybe it's the childhood memories influencing me?

Is that like a pub with a library inside it ?

hmm, not sure. I've only been past Gladesville from the North Shore as I used to visit my partner's rellos in Fairfield. I did look around West Ryde as I was thinking of living thre 2 years ago, but decided to stay put.
