i have 2 complaints
software update is broken and the fancy new dock goes to boring old dock when you put it at any location OTHER than the bottom of the screen
Apart from that its awesome.

Very good review
Very true too :)
Lots of small things to make your life easier.
I'm already loving the small things :)

Still waiting for mine to be shipped. I ordered it Wednesday, payment cleared Thursday, "Not Yet Shipped" is all I see.
Hopefully it will be here no later than Wednesday.
Anyone here with it installed and running things like Gimp? I want to know if you still need X11 or if the rumours about integrated GTK are true.

X11 is installed as a standard install option. Which suprised me a bit.
I use seashore, so i dunno about gimp
But I do know my terminal based irc client (macirssi) no longer works, and neither does one of my livejournal clients.

If I may interject with a question for some of you more experienced Mac users...has anyone tried running an iPhoto slideshow through Front Row? It doesn't appear to play the music tracks. Sorta take the drama away from watching a slideshow of my kids. I googled the problem and it looks like it has been noticed elsewhere but no fix is available. I have submitted the feedback on the apple website - could anyone recommend whether there are other good sites I could look at for this type of problem?
Thanks in advance!

It looks like its a common problem with leopard and front row - people are having problems with no sound for dvds and itunes and iphoto slideshows.
Have you run software update?

Thanks Sapia, have run software update but it tells me there is nothing to update. I guess that this is a bug which I hope gets fixed soon!!!!
Thanks for the apple discussion link too.

How did you install Leopard? "Erase and Install" (clean start), "Upgrade", or "Archive and Install"?
I tried it with my install that was a clean install and it works fine.
I never tried it with "Archive and Install" but Parallels broke when I used that option.
Speaking of Front Row, how much nicer is this version than the other? This is the Apple TV version and I think it is so much nicer and cleaner than the old version.

holy crap @ alex voiceIt's nicer than the others but still suffers from "computerism". Computers suck at speaking because they don't understand speech. I'm not sure they ever will.
While the voice sounds more natural it's just reading words stored in a database therefore sounds more like an automated call system than what is actually being said. The problem with reading words is that it can't understand context which means it can't use proper inflection and pausing which is why it sounds weird.
It's a step in the right direction though.

I never do an upgrade or an archive.... I use the new OS to start on a clean slate and get rid of any dodgy plist files.

I'm still tossing up whether I should bother with Leopard and I'm slowly being convinced that it's the right way to go. I know it's only been out for a nanosecond but what are your opinions on Time Machine?
