What are the rules in regard to capitalisation of 'god' in writings?

Ignore the "as to" in the thread topic, I really meant to say "about". Really.

Referring to a generic deity - not capitalised.
Referring to the specific Judeo-Christian deity - capitalised.
The capitalisation is because they use the common noun as a proper noun in referring to their particular god as "God".

God as a single entity gets a capital, like any name.
However, for example, the god of thunder is Thor.
Get it?

If Thor isn't available, Gene Simmons from KISS is a suitable substitute.
