Battlestar Galactica Season 4 Mid Season Finale will blow your mind

If you've been following the progress of the final season of Battlestar Galactica, you know that this season has been by far the best, and you also know that this week (Friday - Stateside) marks the mid season finale, with the second half only slated to air in 2009.

So if you've been chomping at the bit and reading the hype about this episode on the various fanboy sites, you'll know that folks who've seen it (it was given an advance theatrical screening a few days back in L.A.) have been saying cryptically that it's an absolute mind blower on a scale that's off the chart.

So..... can't wait to see for yourself? The folks at Buddy TV have the spoilers, but don't say I didn't warn you.

So there's 10 episodes left to go (all will be airing in 2009 unless studio execs change their minds). That leaves plenty of story yet to unfold. Anyone care to banter their theories about as to what will come to light?

Here's mine (with no special advance knowledge - this is pure speculation):

Given that Starbuck's viper was honing in on a Colonial beacon coming from Earth (clearly stated in the mid-season finale but easy to overlook given everything that was going on), I think Earth was destroyed in a war of conquest run amok by the Colonials from Kobol. This ended up equally decimating the "13th tribe" as well as the humans on Earth, leaving the planet a wasteland. The skin job Cylons are the result of the toasters finding Earth during that 30-50 year armistice period after the first Cylon war, and somehow coming together with Earth's survivors to create the skin jobs. Their return to destroy the 12 colonies was an act of revenge for the destruction of Earth. The Final Five play a key element in this as there's something more human (speaking in Earth terms) about them than the rest of the skin jobs.

All this fits in with the running theme that all this has happened before, and will happen again.

In the episodes to come they will uncover the source of that colonial beacon, as well as their shared ancestry, and the Galactica survivors, along with the Cylons from the renegade base star, as well as what other survivors they find on Earth, will start the human race anew.

watched six hours of the show this weekend fucking brilliant
