A thread to give advances in BEER TECHNOLOGY the prominence that it deserves.
Find something BEERY interesting that needs to be shared with the heathens?

Please post it here.

Your local brewer releases a new drop and you have an opinion?
Let us know what it is please. No discussion or comment! Opinionated reviews only please!

To start the ball rolling, here's an article on a self cooling re-useable beer keg soon to be released. Press the lever on top of the keg when you light the barbie, wait 90 minutes and you have cold beer for 12 hours.

I really miss Castlemain Dry. *sob*

I recently read a marketing plan for a beer... when you open the top it releases skittles into the top giving the beer a candy flavour... and interesting thought but im not sure if it would be drinkable!!!

im willing to try anyways!!!!

The beer of tomorrow may be freeze-dried, laced with nicotine or even asparagus.

Can't go that far? Try Samuel Adams Utopias, a limited-edition brew that set a new a record with a dizzying 25 percent alcohol content.

You may want to let your buddy pick up the first round. Utopias sells for $100 a bottle — and there's a good chance you won't be able to stick around for a second round.

Homer: Hey, Apu. You got any of that beer with candy floating in it? You know, skittlebrow?
Apu: Mr. Simpson! Such a product does not exist!
Homer: Just give me a bag of skittles and a six pack, then.

I have tried a mix of Pale Ale and Larger, that was a bad idea, on the other hand I have tried Pale Ale and Hoegarrden and it was terrific. I would have preferred 2 seperate beers though :(

Speaking of science...

In my sophomore year, we were force to take a course of "language skills" because one of the top dogs of the university had convinced himself that "this new breed of our students can not express their (quite pathetic and miserable) thoughts clearly, which makes them even more miserable"...

Anyway, at the end of that course everyone was to make a short speech on any topic. Mine was "Where beer comes from?" and was mostly devoted to description of the general brewing process, which, I'm sure, you all know quite well. But one part still imbues a good half of my "what-shall-I-do-when-(and if)-I-become-rich" day dreams:

- A man of physical labor needs 8 litres of beer per day to get enough calories to sustain himself
- For someone who employs intellectual skills, rather than physical ones, about 6 litres will suffice (huh, image that intellectual labor after 6 litres of beer ;))
- And a non-thinking relaxed sofa operator can live on just ~5 litres of beer per day.

Now that is a thing to try! :D
