Two police officers gave up trying to breath-test motorists at Robinvale, in north-western Victoria, after their sign was stolen.
The officers had only just set up their breath-testing station last night when a driver raced through the area, running over a traffic cone.
It got stuck under the car.
The police gave chase and found the battered cone, but not the car.
When they returned to their station, they found someone had stolen their breath testing sign.
The officers decided to call it a night and returned to routine patrols.
