An anti-abortion congressman from Tennessee begged his pregnant mistress to get an abortion in late 2000, according to a transcript of the phone call obtained by The Huffington Post.

Republican Rep. Scott DesJarlais reportedly pleaded with the woman, explaining that he was trying to salvage his marriage with now-ex-wife Susan DesJarlais.

“You told me you’d have an abortion, and now we’re getting too far along without one,” DesJarlais said during the call, according to The Huffington Post.

“If we need to go to Atlanta, or whatever, to get this solved and get it over with so we can get on with our lives, then let’s do it,” he said.
