But yeah, it’s not uncommon for bullets to be depicted artistically shell & all, Who Framed Roger Rabbit for example, I’ve seen an action film(not sure of the name) that had bullets in flight CGIed in & they were depicted shell & all.

I’ve seen it done a few times before, but it still makes me irrationally angry every time.

It does give me an idea though… A bullet shaped like a round with a rimless case could work. I guess a rimmed case design would also work but it would need to be fired in a sabot. I’m not sure how well bullets modeled on a tapered case would fly, but if it was a huge problem they could be modeled on pistol rounds with straight cases.

At the very least they would be useful for trolling the gun community.
